So we have another African president elected to Office, President Obama has inspired a generation and given many a sense of dignity especially for the people of color in America. Hope like this has been seen before in the election of Nelson Mandela, Jomo Kenyatta, Kwame Nkruma and other African presidents. In reality there are more African Presidents in the world than any other race, yet people of African descent are the poorest and their aspirations the least represented. Our cultures are demonized and our religions kept underground. Do we really need another African president, or do we need a different kind of leadership solution? Until the people are empowered from the grass roots nothing will change, we will be sitting here 4 or 8 years later talking about how we had a black president but still have the highest rates of poverty and still made outcastes in our own countries and abroad. I must say I hope that President Obama fulfills the hope he inspired during his campaign, I hope I’m wrong but the funny thing about history is that it tends to repeat its’ self. Leaders like Malcom X and Patrice Lumumba had a unique approach leadership style; they decided to empower the people.  Despite how things seems I feel a huge power vacuum growing for a leader like Malcom X , a defender of the people like Queen Nzinga of Angola, the courage of Hannibal of Carthage, the Wisdom of Imhotep and the longevity of the pharos.
