So, a bunch of people are upset about these and I think they don't understand the whole black face controversy.
"The black face minstrel act was a very popular form of entertainment in 19th-century America. It was also a highly racist depiction of African Americans"

The audience for these shows was largely working-class whites, and at first the black face character was actually a smart and sympathetic one. But as time went on, the minstrel show took on a more racist tone.

the outrage of black face characters is justified, but we must look at the context. In my opinion these pictures portray beauty, elegance and high fashion using African textiles, accessories and one of our most unique beautiful features, OUR BLACK SKIN.

I wish more photographers and fashion magazines would show this same exceptional beauty in black models as well as other races because ultimately the controversy is really about why they would not use models with African skin tones to portray this.
