How to diagnose your emotional eating

September 6, 2010
Are you an emotional eater? What is emotional eating? Basically you are supposed to eat for nourishment. When you find our self craving certain foods, flavors or textures, its time to evaluate why you realluy need these foods

1. Bready foods:

A craving for bready foods is a symptom of insecurity. There are many factors that can cause you to feel insecure. Are you short on your mortgage this month? Is there talk of you loosing your job? Is your boyfriend reciving calls in the middle of the night or are you having body image issues of your own. The best thing you can do for your self when you notice a consistent and sudden urge for cakes, breaded foods is to look within your self. Without judgement look into your life and identify any areas that you may feel inscure about.

2. Sweets:

Craving sweets is an indication that you have issues with love. This may be an emotional issue with giving or receiving love. You may have feelings of love that you want to give but no one to give love to. It may also be a situation where you trying to love someone but your emotions won't let you. .Diabetes is diagnosed in wholistic medicine as a loss of a sweet person or a love. Your body reacts by craving "sweets" as a replacement for the feeling of sweet love lost. If you find your self in situation, evaluate your self truthfully. These are surpressed emotions and by evaluating them honestly and releasing any surpressed or hidden feelings you can begin to heal from the inside. You can also replace your sweet cravings with sweet fruit in its natural raw state, that way youo get a sweet fix without endangering your health. Strawberries, dates, grapes are sweet finger fruits that can easily replace candy or any sweet cravings.

3.Salty food:

Salty foods cravings are an indicator of surpressed anger. Anger is not cute, nice people don't get angry so they hold it in and take it out on themselves. Processed white salt is a dangerous chemical, yes it is a chemical. When salt is applied to raw fish or a piece of steak, It dries it out by removing all the moisture from the meat. This is excactly what it does to the human body when consumed. This will cause aches and pains in joints and bones and dry flaky skin. If you find yourself needing salty foods try and pinpoint things that make you angry and find a way to make peace with them. Take a kickboxing class and punch out the things that make you angry. Anger is like drinking poison and hoping that it will harm the person or situation making making you angry. Substitute white processed salt with sea salt which is less harmfull.

4. Crunchy foods:

Anxious about something? Chances are you're craving that crunchy something, or constantly chewing on gum or just about anything. Anxiety is a symptom that tells you to chill out, Relax and take things easy. Unplug from your computer, take a stroll and stare at the clouds, just clear your mind from everything. Prevention in this case is the best option if you constanlt find your self on edge. Take a pilates or yoga class once a week, designate time in your calendar daily to take a vacation or do something locally that relaxes you.

5. Creamy or dairy foods:

Creamy or dairy comfort foods are a symptom of a need to be natured. This could come from childhood when you felt ambandoned. It could also be triggered by being abandoned by friends, lovers or family. Despite what other people have done to you, you have the power to control your emotions. Be honest about any surpressed abandonment issues and DECIDE that these events in your life do not control your emotions.

Emotional eating is a symptom of surpressed emotions, we cover up by ignring these issues and the body alerts us by demanding we naurish what we lack. Be honest about your craving, it could improve the quality of your life and allow you to deal with issues that hold you back in life.
